Cardiff drug dealer arrested at Bristol Airport after Cyprus holiday, court hears

Cardiff, Wales. A Cardiff drug dealer was arrested by police waiting on the tarmac at Bristol Airport as he returned from a holiday in Cyprus, a court heard. Kane Evans, 29, was later sentenced to 40 months in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine.

Investigation and raid in Ely

Cardiff Crown Court heard Evans, of Mill Road, Ely, Cardiff, had been under investigation since November 2025, when officers from the Cardiff and Vale organised crime team raided a property in the Ely area. As police forced entry, a rucksack was thrown from a bedroom window, and Evans was found inside the bedroom and arrested. The rucksack was recovered and found to contain cocaine.

Phone examinations and linked drugs line inquiry

Evans was released under investigation while officers examined two phones seized during the raid. One of the phones was linked to a separate drugs line investigation, and downloads from the devices gave police grounds to move against him.

Airport arrest and sentencing

Officers detained Evans on January 29 after receiving information he was due to arrive at Bristol Airport, waiting on the tarmac as he stepped off the plane. The court heard Evans had previously pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and was sentenced to 40 months in prison, with a discount applied for his guilty plea.

Police statement after sentencing

After sentencing, South Wales Police detective constable Jon Grenville-Roberts said officers were able to link separate investigations to prove Evans had been dealing drugs. “Together with the drugs found during the warrant, it enabled us to put together a strong file of evidence which resulted in a guilty plea,” he said. “He may have thought he had got away with it but his holiday blues quickly set in as officers were waiting for him at the airport.”
