ChimChim opens in Limassol old town, offering Asian small plates and mains

Limassol, Cyprus. ChimChim, a new Asian restaurant in Limassol’s old town area, is attracting customers with a menu of small plates and mains described as well-priced and well-prepared.


Location and setting

ChimChim is located on a side road leading into Limassol’s historic Ayiou Andreou street, not far from the city’s medieval castle. The restaurant is within walking distance for those parked from Anexartisias street to the Old Port area, and is described as relatively small and easy to miss.

Dining areas and service

The restaurant has a dining area at the entrance and another at the back, with the front space described as fully renovated. Staff are described as friendly and polite in greeting guests.

At 7:15 p.m. on a weekday, the restaurant was largely empty, becoming considerably busier around 8:30 p.m. The account suggests booking a table, particularly for Friday or Saturday evenings.

Small plates

Two starters were ordered: chicken bao buns and vegetable spring rolls. The spring rolls were described as crisp without being excessively greasy, containing cabbage, carrots and noodles, and served as a portion of four with a somewhat spicy, tangy dipping sauce. The bao buns were described as a standout, featuring soft, tender breaded and fried chicken, cucumber slices, spicy mayonnaise and fresh cream, and characterized as substantial for a starter.

Main dishes

For mains, red curry tofu and Japanese BBQ chicken were ordered. The red curry was described as creamy with a coconut-forward base and a spicy kick, containing green beans, carrots and mushrooms, with tofu pieces crisp on the outside and soft inside. The Japanese BBQ chicken was described as using tender chicken thigh with a balance of sweetness and savoury flavour, accompanied by a side salad topped with a minty sauce.

Side dish

Steamed rice was ordered and described as well-executed, with the note that one bowl may be sufficient for one person and that two diners may want to order a second bowl.
