Christodoulides presents Cyprus priorities at Eurochambers meeting in Nicosia

Nicosia, Cyprus. President Nikos Christodoulides on Thursday outlined Cyprus’ business, trade and competitiveness priorities at the Eurochambers presidency meeting hosted by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve) in Nicosia.

Cyprus agenda and EU presidency

Addressing the Brussels-based network, which represents 1,700 regional and local chambers across the EU, Christodoulides said Cyprus’ agenda is closely aligned with the interests of European businesses, particularly in the context of the country’s assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. He told European chamber leaders that their presence mattered less than a month after Cyprus assumed the presidency.

Partnership with the business community

Christodoulides said a close partnership with the business community is more critical than ever for Europe. He described Eurochambers as a key institutional partner for the EU’s economic direction and said the network represents more than 20 million companies.

Trade and investment focus and India visit

Christodoulides highlighted an upcoming visit to India in May as a strategic priority for Cyprus and European business ties. Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, he said an invitation from the Prime Minister of India was an important development and noted that the prime minister had visited Cyprus and had officially invited him to India within less than a year.
