Christos Christou urges public to vote as Elam seeks stronger parliamentary role

Nicosia, Cyprus. Elam leader Christos Christou called on the public to take part in Sunday’s parliamentary elections, saying the outcome would help determine the strength of political parties and the future balance in parliament.

Voting call

Speaking to reporters after casting his ballot at the Politiko village council office, Christou said that “today is the day when citizens have their say.” He said Elam was ready to assume the responsibilities assigned to it by voters and was prepared to act on the mandate it receives from the electorate.

Party aims

Christou said a stronger parliamentary presence for Elam would allow the party to pursue policy changes in areas where it disagrees with the current political approach. He said the goal was to promote “more social and national policies” through a strengthened parliamentary group with greater influence in the House.

Election outlook

Elam has been consistently projected to finish in third place, a result that would position the party as a potential kingmaker in the next parliament.
