Cyprus and Bahrain seek to deepen business ties at inaugural business forum

Manama, Bahrain. President Nikos Christodoulides said Cyprus and Bahrain can still unlock substantial economic opportunities, addressing the first Cyprus-Bahrain Business Forum during his official visit to the Gulf kingdom.

Business forum highlights untapped potential

Christodoulides told business representatives the forum was a first step in tapping largely untapped potential between the two countries. He said that potential is shaped by their strategic locations, economic dynamism and their shared role as bridges between regions and markets.

Link to Cyprus EU Council presidency and EU-Gulf priorities

He linked bilateral cooperation to Cyprus’ upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, saying relations between the EU and the Gulf will be a clear priority. He said Bahrain would be a key partner, particularly as regional and European frameworks increasingly converge.

Christodoulides said Cyprus’ presidency, the Bahraini Presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council–EU for 2026, and the second EU–GCC summit scheduled during Cyprus’ presidency are important milestones and opportunities to deepen political dialogue, strengthen economic cooperation and translate common interests into tangible results.

Cyprus investment platform and reforms

Christodoulides said Cyprus offers Bahraini investors a stable and predictable, EU-based platform. He said Cyprus serves as an entry point to Europe, with full access to the Single Market and the Eurozone, supported by a modern, transparent and business-friendly regulatory framework.

He also pointed to structural reforms that have come into force this year.

What areas of cooperation between Cyprus and Bahrain do you think could deliver the most tangible economic results?
