Cyprus and UK developments span fashion-tech, crypto regulation and hotel sector leadership

London, United Kingdom. Cypriot founder Nicole Georgiou has launched i spy in London, a new fashion-tech platform focused on how people discover, save and shop outfits seen online. In Cyprus, officials discussed the future of payments and crypto regulation in Limassol, while the hoteliers association Pasyxe elected Yiannos Pantazis as its new president.

Fashion-tech platform launched in London

Nicole Georgiou, 25, a former finance professional who moved from Cyprus to London seven years ago, officially unveiled the app at How Matcha in Marylebone. The launch marked the first public presentation of a platform she described as the next generation of fashion discovery.

The platform uses proprietary fashion-specific visual search technology to help users identify outfits, discover similar pieces, organise items they want to buy and shop fashion inspiration from one place.

The launch event was hosted at How Matcha, a matcha bar and cultural space known for collaborations with fashion brands including Miu Miu, Cult Gaia and Joseph.

Cyprus officials address crypto regulation

Senior officials from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission and the Central Bank of Cyprus said at a conference in Limassol on Tuesday that the future of payments will depend on trust, effective supervision and responsible innovation.

The conference focused on cryptocurrencies, digital assets and the future of the sector. Both speakers highlighted the growing integration of crypto assets into the financial system and the importance of regulation as markets undergo structural change.

CySEC chairman George Theocharides said crypto assets are no longer operating on the margins of financial markets.

“They are becoming increasingly integrated into the broader financial ecosystem, interacting with traditional financial instruments, regulated intermediaries and institutional investors,” he said.

Theocharides said this is not a temporary trend but a structural transformation in the way markets are organised, assets are created and issued, and investors gain exposure to financial products.

Pasyxe elects new president

Cyprus hoteliers association Pasyxe elected Yiannos Pantazis as its new president, with Thanos Michaelides stepping down after three years in the role.

The association marked its 90th anniversary and unveiled a new digital platform aimed at strengthening decision-making across the hotel sector.
