Cyprus average monthly earnings rise 3.7 per cent in first quarter of 2026

Nicosia, Cyprus. Average gross monthly earnings in Cyprus rose by 3.7 per cent year on year to €2,601 in the first quarter of 2026, according to provisional figures released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) on Wednesday.

After seasonal adjustment, average gross monthly earnings stood at €2,652, up 0.8 per cent from the fourth quarter of 2025.


Earnings distribution

The average salary is influenced by relatively high earners, while the earnings distribution shows that the typical worker earns less than the overall average.

The largest share of employees fell within the monthly earnings bracket of €1,500 to €2,999.

Quarterly comparison

The unadjusted average monthly earnings figure was lower than the €2,932 recorded in the fourth quarter of 2025, a period that typically includes additional payments such as year-end bonuses.

Cystat said seasonal adjustment provides a clearer comparison between quarters.

Earnings by gender

Male employees recorded average gross monthly earnings of €2,776 during the first quarter of 2026, while female employees earned an average of €2,378.

Compared with the first quarter of 2025, average earnings rose by 3.3 per cent for men and 4.2 per cent for women.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, average monthly earnings reached €2,823 for men and €2,434 for women. Seasonally adjusted earnings increased by 0.7 per cent for men and 1.0 per cent for women from the previous quarter.
