Cyprus cites 4.5% GDP growth in Q4 2025 as government outlines tourism and Cyta plans

Nicosia, Cyprus. Finance Minister Makis Keravnos said Cyprus recorded economic growth of 4.5% in the fourth quarter of 2025, citing resilience despite external challenges. The government also approved a National Tourism Strategy to 2035, while Cyta issued a statement on proposed legal amendments and its planned entry into the energy market.

Finance minister cites resilience and fiscal stability

Keravnos said data on Cyprus’ GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2025 “confirm once again the dynamism of the Cypriot economy” despite an external environment marked by challenges and uncertainties. He said Finance Ministry policies have shaped “an environment of stability and prospects” recognised domestically and by international and European partners.

He also said the government has “secured fiscal stability and sustainability.”

Cabinet approves National Tourism Strategy to 2035

Deputy Tourism Minister Kostas Koumis said the cabinet approved a new National Tourism Strategy to 2035 that targets 5 million visitors while upgrading quality and ensuring development respects sustainable principles.

Koumis said the plan updates the National Tourism Strategy 2030 adopted in 2020 to align with the country’s long-term economic development vision. He said the strategy covers the period until 2035 to be consistent with the time limit for achieving the 2035 vision.

Core objectives include improving the tourism product, promoting sustainable growth, transforming Cyprus into a digitally smart destination, and reducing seasonality to help the island gradually become a year-round destination.

Cyta statement addresses legal amendments and energy plans

Cyta’s board of directors and management issued a statement clarifying the organisation’s position on proposed amendments to the law governing its operation and its planned entry into the energy market.

The statement referred to an “equal regulatory framework with benefits for society and the country.”
