Cyprus concludes participation in Foodex Japan 2026 in Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan. Cyprus concluded its participation in the Foodex Japan 2026 exhibition held from March 10 to March 13, 2026 at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition centre. The Trade Ministry said the event offered insights for shaping Cyprus’s future strategy in the Japanese market.

Ministry assessment

In an announcement released on Wednesday, the Trade Ministry said Cyprus’s presence at the event “provided valuable insights for shaping its future strategy in the Japanese market”. The ministry also said the participation “highlighted significant growth prospects for high-quality Cypriot products within a highly competitive international environment”.

Organisation and EU Pavilion

The Cyprus participation initiative was organised by the Trade Ministry in cooperation with the Cyprus Trade Centre in Tokyo. The ministry said Cyprus was included in the EU Pavilion, providing visibility and access to a specialised network of buyers, importers and representatives from the HORECA sector.

Products presented

The ministry said that, through coordination of the European Commission, a selected range of Cypriot products was presented and promoted, allowing visitors to experience the quality and authenticity of Cypriot production.

Halloumi, wine and other products

Halloumi cheese played a central role and was offered for tasting to a large number of visitors, with the response confirming its international recognition and drawing interest from professionals active in Mediterranean cuisine. Cypriot wines recorded strong performance as part of the broader promotion of European wines, while olive oils and salt products were used in live cooking demonstrations at the pavilion.

What impact will Cyprus’s participation in Foodex Japan 2026 have on demand for Cypriot products in Japan?
