Cyprus construction material prices rise 3.12% year on year in June

Nicosia, Cyprus. Construction material prices in Cyprus rose by 3.12 per cent year on year in June 2026, driven by increases in aluminium, plastics and electrical fixtures, according to data released by the Statistical Service (Cystat) on Monday.

The construction materials price index reached 122.74 units, based on 2021=100, rising 0.55 per cent from May and 1.62 per cent during the first half of 2026 compared with the corresponding period of 2025.


Metallic products

Metallic products recorded the largest annual increase among the five main categories, rising 5.02 per cent year on year. Their index reached 111.90 units, up 0.52 per cent from May and 1.78 per cent on average during January to June.

Products made from aluminium and other metals rose to 124.30 units, increasing 0.32 per cent month on month, 7.56 per cent year on year and 4.14 per cent during the first six months.

Iron and steel products reached 106.43 units, following increases of 0.63 per cent from May, 3.76 per cent from June 2025 and 0.60 per cent during January to June.

Wood, insulation, chemicals and plastics

The category covering wood products, insulation materials, chemicals and plastics rose 4.07 per cent annually to 125.17 units. It increased 0.93 per cent from May and 2.27 per cent during the first half of 2026.

Plastic products climbed to 132.41 units, up 0.57 per cent monthly, 6.53 per cent year on year and 4.66 per cent during the first six months.

Wood products reached 126.91 units after rising 1.08 per cent from May, 4.38 per cent annually and 2.13 per cent during January to June.

Chemical products posted the strongest monthly increase, rising 1.29 per cent to 115.82 units. They were 2.64 per cent higher than in June 2025 and 1.54 per cent higher during the first half of the year.

Insulation material prices were unchanged from May at 118.68 units, but remained 1.16 per cent higher year on year and 1.32 per cent above their average level in the corresponding six-month period of 2025.

Electromechanical products

Electromechanical products rose 2.99 per cent year on year, with their index reaching 118.62 units. Prices increased 0.11 per cent from May and 2.59 per cent during the first six months of 2026.
