Cyprus EU Council Presidency scholarship programme expands to 110 postgraduate awards

Nicosia, Cyprus. The number of postgraduate scholarships linked to Cyprus’ EU Council Presidency has risen to 110 this week after two institutions added 17 new awards. The scholarships are intended to support young people through education during Cyprus’ six-month term leading the European Council.


New additions to the programme

European University Cyprus joined the initiative with 10 scholarships for English-language postgraduate programmes beginning in autumn 2026. Five of these scholarships will cover full costs and five will provide partial support.

CIM Cyprus Business School announced seven scholarships, including one fully funded master’s place and six partial scholarships.

Total scholarships and earlier announcement

The total number of scholarships now stands at 110, up from the initial 93 announced by President Nikos Christodoulides on May 9, Europe Day.

Contributions from universities

Neapolis University Pafos has offered 40 partial scholarships, the largest share among participating institutions.

Frederick University has pledged 20 partial scholarships, while the University of Limassol is providing 12 scholarships, including two fully funded places.

The University of Nicosia has offered 10 partial scholarships, the University of Cyprus six scholarships, including two fully funded places, and UCLan Cyprus five partial scholarships.

Eligibility

The scholarships are available to Cypriot and European citizens, subject to the criteria set by each institution.
