Cyprus finance ministry unveils Thalia mascot for 2021–2027 cohesion policy programme

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus’ finance ministry on Tuesday unveiled a new digital mascot for the Thalia 2021–2027 cohesion policy programme to bring its projects closer to the public. The character, also named Thalia, will appear in six animated videos explaining the programme’s aims and impact.


Digital mascot and video series

The ministry said the mascot will feature in a series of six animated videos outlining the programme and how it affects daily life. The videos will be made available on the programme’s website and social media platforms.

Name and programme themes

The ministry said the mascot represents a programme “that invests in the future of Cyprus and its people”. Officials said the name derives from a Greek verb meaning to flourish and reflects goals of progress and prosperity, while also drawing on themes including change, prosperity, equality and development.

Programme focus and project areas

The programme is co-funded by the European Union and supports projects aimed at boosting competitiveness, promoting green and digital transition, improving connectivity and strengthening social inclusion. The ministry said the videos will show how projects support innovation and business and contribute to improvements in infrastructure, education and employment.
