Cyprus GDP rises 3.8% in real terms in 2025, Cystat preliminary estimates show

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus’ gross domestic product rose by 3.8 per cent in real terms in 2025 compared with 2024, according to preliminary estimates by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat). GDP at constant prices reached €30.52 billion, the statistical service said.

Annual GDP and sector drivers

Cystat said the economy recorded positive growth of 3.8 per cent in real terms compared with 2024. In current prices, the percentage change in GDP amounted to 4.5 per cent, with GDP reaching €36.32 billion.

Based on the production approach for calculating GDP in real terms, the positive growth rate in 2025 was mainly driven by information and communication (ICT), hotels and restaurants, construction, and wholesale and retail trade including the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.

Expenditure components

In current prices, public consumption increased by 6.7 per cent to €6.82 billion compared with 2024, while private consumption rose by 3.7 per cent to €20.65 billion.

Gross capital formation recorded an increase of 2.3 per cent to €7.35 billion. Exports of goods and services grew by 5.3 per cent to €35.52 billion, while imports rose by 4.9 per cent to €34.04 billion, which Cystat said exerted downward pressure on GDP.

Fourth-quarter performance

In a separate announcement, Cystat reported that GDP grew by 4.5 per cent in real terms in the fourth quarter of 2025 on a seasonally adjusted basis compared with the corresponding quarter of 2024. GDP reached €7.76 billion during this period.

Compared with the previous quarter, GDP increased by 1.4 per cent, the service added. According to the production approach, fourth-quarter growth was mainly attributed to wholesale and retail trade including the repair of motor vehicles, information and communications, and hotels and restaurants.
