Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus’ met office issued a yellow warning on Tuesday as Storm Erminio moves east from Sicily, bringing rain and isolated storms across the island. The alert will be in effect from 6pm on Wednesday until 11am on Thursday.
Warning period and expected conditions
The met office said rain and storms are expected to start in Paphos, with winds reaching 50 km/hr. It urged the public to prepare for strong winds, localised flooding, and hazardous driving conditions.
Forecast for Wednesday
Wednesday is expected to bring showers mainly in Paphos and Troodos, worsening in the late afternoon. Temperatures are forecast to reach 19C in Nicosia and Limassol, 21C in Paphos and Kyrenia, and 15C in Troodos.
Overnight outlook into Thursday
Overnight, rain is set to intensify, with temperatures falling to 11C in Nicosia, 15C in Larnaca, and 8C in Troodos.
Thursday to Saturday outlook
Thursday will start with isolated rain and storms, with conditions improving by midday. Friday may bring occasional showers, while Saturday will begin clear but could see isolated rain or storms in Troodos as well as Famagusta.
