Cyprus land development seen as growth driver as Safe Bulkers advances Euronext Athens plan

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus can turn land development and construction into a driver of sustainable, technologically advanced growth, Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou said on Tuesday. He also said the sector must be viewed more broadly because it affects quality of life, competitiveness, investment, jobs and the shaping of cities and communities.

Land development model

Speaking at a roundtable with young entrepreneurs titled “Gen Z & Millennial Project – The new generation of business leaders roundtable discussion,” Ioannou said Cyprus needs to redefine its land development and construction model so it can serve current building activity and the needs of future generations.

Safe Bulkers dual listing

Safe Bulkers moved closer to becoming the first shipping company to pursue a dual listing on Euronext Athens after the market operator confirmed that the Cyprus-linked shipowner meets the requirements for admission to its main market. The New York-listed dry bulk shipping company, controlled by Polys Hajioannou, said Euronext Athens’ Listings and Market Operations Committee confirmed at its latest session that all listing requirements for the dual listing of its common shares had been met.

The shares carry the ISIN code MHY7388L1039. The process now depends on approval of the prospectus by the Hellenic Capital Markets Commission, and Safe Bulkers said it expects to announce the start of trading once that approval is granted.

Etap in Sicily programme

The Paphos regional tourism board, Etap, is taking part in the i-DEMO programme in Selinunte, Sicily, from May 26 to 28 alongside tourism and cultural stakeholders from across Europe. Etap said the European project focuses on new approaches to destination management, with emphasis on gamification, digital tools, storytelling, accessibility and the visitor experience.
