Cyprus monitors tourism sector as flights return to normal, spokesperson says

Nicosia, Cyprus. Authorities are monitoring the tourism sector and remain cautiously optimistic despite disruptions linked to the Middle East crisis, government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said on Tuesday.

Flight schedules and bookings

Responding to a question from the Cyprus Mail about falling bookings and potential economic risks ahead of the summer season, Letymbiotis said the situation is showing signs of improvement.

He said flight schedules from all airlines are returning to normal and have largely resumed full operation. He added that new flights were announced by additional airlines operating to and from Cyprus.

Government engagement and support plan

Letymbiotis said the government has held meetings with stakeholders in the hotel industry and last week announced a support plan for April aimed at stabilising the sector.

He said there is an almost daily assessment by both the government and hoteliers on how the situation is evolving.

Outlook and international messaging

Letymbiotis said conditions are steadily improving, attributing this to the restoration of flight schedules and a return to normality in daily life on the island.

He said the government continues to monitor developments and remains hopeful, describing a successful tourism season as a shared objective with relevant stakeholders. He added that Cyprus continues to project an image of stability abroad and that efforts are being made to send the message internationally that normality prevails, as the country prepares to welcome visitors from around the world.

How do you think the latest flight schedule updates could affect tourism demand in Cyprus ahead of the summer season?
