Nicosia, Cyprus. Enterprise Europe Network Cyprus has invited local businesses to join a specialised online workshop on February 26, 2026, focused on risk mitigation for small and medium enterprises operating in the Chinese market.
Workshop organisers and focus
The session, titled Risk Mitigation: Commercial Background Checks and Due Diligence in China, is being organised by the EU SME Centre in partnership with the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China.
Context and aims
The webinar follows the release of a publication named Simple Steps to Minimise Risks of Scams and aims to provide European firms with knowledge to reduce exposure when buying, selling, or exploring partnerships.
Schedule, eligibility and registration
The event will take place from 9:00 to 10:30 Cyprus time and is free of charge for all interested European small and medium enterprises. Participating businesses are required to register through the official portal to access the digital platform.
Content and expected outcomes
Organisers said that expanding in China offers significant opportunities but requires careful evaluation of potential partners, suppliers and distributors. Attendees are expected to receive practical guidance on conducting commercial background checks and key steps for effective due diligence tailored for smaller organisations, as well as insights into identifying reliable partners and avoiding common risks in the region.
Expert support and tools
Participants will be able to seek expert advice during a live question-and-answer session scheduled for the end of the morning. The workshop will also provide an overview of support tools currently available for European firms operating in China.
