Cyprus petroleum product sales rise 11.2% year-on-year in January, Cystat says

Nicosia, Cyprus. Total petroleum product sales in Cyprus reached 118,460 tonnes in January, an 11.2% increase compared with the same month in the previous year, according to the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat). Several fuel categories recorded sharp year-on-year changes, while overall sales fell on a month-on-month basis.


Year-on-year changes by product category

Cystat reported that provisions of marine gasoil rose by 175.3% compared with January of the previous year.

Aviation kerosene increased by 23.2%, while demand for heating gasoil surged by 25.2%. Sales of liquefied petroleum gases and asphalt grew by 13.4% and 13.2%, respectively.

In contrast, sales of light fuel oil dropped by 62.3%, alongside a 12.1% decrease in heavy fuel oil. Road diesel sales declined by 1.6%, while motor gasoline sales were broadly stable, rising 0.3%.

Filling station sales and monthly trends

Sales from filling stations increased by 3.5% to 58,500 tonnes.

On a month-on-month basis, total sales of petroleum products in January 2026 fell by 3.9% compared with December 2025. Aviation kerosene decreased by 10.0% over the month, while motor gasoline and road diesel fell by 13.1% and 11.9%, respectively.
