Nicosia, Cyprus. Police arrested four individuals overnight on Monday during coordinated operations across Cyprus aimed at enhancing public safety and preventing crime.
Arrests and checks
Police said the arrests involved failure to appear in court, illegal stay in the republic, and drink driving. Patrols were deployed at key urban locations, with officers carrying out targeted checks on individuals, vehicles and premises.
In total, 603 drivers and passengers were stopped and inspected during the operation.
Premises inspections
Police conducted 34 inspections of premises linked to suspected criminal activity, resulting in three complaints.
Traffic enforcement results
Traffic enforcement resulted in 265 fines for various violations and 17 ongoing investigations. Speeding was recorded 74 times, and seven drivers were reported for drink driving, including one case with a reading of 125µg, which police said exceeded the legal limit.
Eighteen vehicles were seized for further examination.
