Дорожная полиция Кипра

During this week Cyprus police will run a campaign to raise awareness about driving without a seat belt. Traffic police will be checking drivers and passengers. The aim of the campaign is – reducing numbers of fatalities during the traffic accidents. The fine amount for driving without seat belt is 85 euro and 2-4 penalty points.

145 drivers  have been killed on Cyprus roads in the period from 2011 to 2016, including 98 persons, who were not using seat belt.

Police reminds that seat belt remains one of the most effective ways of preventing fatal injuries during the car crash. European Traffic Safety Council (ETSC) also stated that airbags are only able to protect drivers and passengers if they are using seat belts.
