Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus recorded the largest monthly decline in industrial producer prices in the European Union in January 2026, according to first estimates from Eurostat. The drop came as prices rose in both the euro area and the EU overall.
EU and euro area monthly and annual changes
Industrial producer prices increased by 0.7% in the euro area and by 0.8% in the EU in January 2026 compared with December 2025, Eurostat said. This followed a monthly fall of 0.3% in the euro area and 0.4% in the EU in December 2025.
On an annual basis, compared with January 2025, industrial producer prices decreased by 2.1% in the euro area and by 1.9% in the EU.
Member state monthly movements
Cyprus recorded a monthly decrease of 0.9% in January 2026, the largest drop among member states for which data were available.
Other monthly declines were reported in the Czech Republic, down 0.7%, and in Germany and Slovakia, both down 0.6%.
The highest monthly increases were recorded in Estonia at 13.7%, Bulgaria at 7.1%, and Finland at 6.9%.
Euro area breakdown by industrial grouping
In the euro area, prices increased by 1.0% for intermediate goods and by 1.3% for energy. Prices also rose by 0.6% for capital goods and by 0.8% for durable consumer goods, while they decreased by 0.2% for non-durable consumer goods.
Excluding energy, prices in total industry increased by 0.6% in the euro area.
