Cyprus posts one of EU’s lowest inflation rates in February 2026

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus recorded one of the lowest inflation rates in the European Union in February 2026, according to figures from Eurostat and the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat). Eurostat data put Cyprus annual inflation at 0.9% in February.


Cyprus inflation and EU comparisons

Eurostat reported that Cyprus annual inflation stood at 0.9% in February 2026, placing it among the lowest in the bloc alongside Denmark and the Czech Republic. The rate compares with 1.2% in January 2026 and 0.1% in December 2025.

On a month-on-month basis, inflation in Cyprus was unchanged at 0.0% in February, indicating stable consumer prices.

Across the euro area, annual inflation rose to 1.9% in February 2026 from 1.7% in January, while annual inflation in the European Union increased to 2.1% from 2.0%.

A year earlier, inflation stood at 2.3% in the euro area and 2.7% in the EU.

Highest and lowest inflation rates in February

The lowest inflation rates in February were recorded in Denmark at 0.5%, Cyprus at 0.9% and the Czech Republic at 1.0%. The highest inflation rates were recorded in Romania, Slovakia and Croatia.

Eurostat said inflation declined in 11 member states, remained stable in four and increased in 12 compared with January 2026.

Drivers of euro area inflation

Services contributed the most to euro area inflation at 1.54 percentage points, followed by food, alcohol and tobacco at 0.48 percentage points and non-energy industrial goods at 0.17 percentage points.

Energy had a negative contribution of minus 0.30 percentage points.
