Nicosia, Cyprus. President Nikos Christodoulides said the government is increasing social expenditure after the economy recorded growth. He said social spending in 2024, 2025 and 2026 has increased by more than 6%.
Social spending increase linked to economic growth
Christodoulides said it was important that the country had the ability, based on economic circumstances created by growth, to increase social expenditure in 2024, 2025 and 2026 by over 6%.
Meetings with disability, patient and third-age groups
Christodoulides received delegations from the confederation of organisations for people with disabilities (Kysoa), the federation of patients’ associations (Osak) and the third-age observatory at the presidential palace. He said they would discuss what else could be done to meet what he described as the government’s least duty to compatriots.
Collaboration with organisations
He praised the work of the organisations and said that what had been achieved was done in collaboration with them. Christodoulides said the government was following their programme and aimed to continue in this context.
What further measures would you like the government to take to support social groups?
