Cyprus ranks among EU’s top GDP growers in fourth quarter of 2025, Eurostat says

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus recorded 1.4% GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the previous quarter, placing it among the European Union’s top performers, Eurostat reported on Friday.


Cyprus and EU quarterly performance

Cyprus and Croatia shared the third-highest quarter-on-quarter growth rate in the EU at 1.4%, behind Malta at 2.1% and Lithuania at 1.7%. Seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 0.2% in both the euro area and the EU in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the previous quarter, following increases in the third quarter of 0.3% in the euro area and 0.4% in the EU.

Annual and year-on-year comparisons

For 2025 as a whole, GDP increased by 1.4% in the euro area and by 1.5% in the EU, up from 0.9% and 1.1% respectively in 2024. Compared with the same quarter a year earlier, seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 1.2% in the euro area and 1.4% in the EU in the fourth quarter of 2025, after increases of 1.4% and 1.7% respectively in the previous period.

Countries with quarterly declines

Quarter-on-quarter GDP decreases were recorded in Ireland at 3.8%, Romania at 1.9%, and both Estonia and Luxembourg at 0.1%.

United States figures

The United States reported GDP growth of 0.4% in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the previous quarter, following 1.1% growth in the third quarter of 2025. Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, US GDP increased by 2.2%, following a 2.3% increase in the prior quarter.
