Cyprus ranks seventh in EU for business social media adoption in 2025

Nicosia, Cyprus. Businesses in Cyprus ranked among the highest in the European Union for social media adoption in 2025, with 79.94 per cent of enterprises integrating these platforms into daily operations. According to Eurostat, this placed Cyprus seventh across the bloc.


EU-wide trend

Across the European Union, 63.6 per cent of enterprises with 10 or more employees actively used social media in 2025, up from 61.1 per cent in 2023.

Business use of social media

Enterprises use social media to increase their online presence, improve marketing, and communicate with partners, customers, and other organisations to support collaboration and the sharing of knowledge.

Use by company size

The report showed that social media use was more common among larger enterprises. Among small enterprises, 60.6 per cent reported using social media, compared with 76.2 per cent of medium-sized firms and 89.1 per cent of large enterprises.

Country rankings

Malta recorded the highest share of enterprises using social media at 88.2 per cent, followed by Finland at 87.6 per cent and Denmark at 86.1 per cent. Other countries with high levels of adoption included the Netherlands at 83.76 per cent, Sweden at 83.34 per cent, and Belgium at 81.11 per cent.

Lowest levels

Bulgaria, Croatia, and Hungary recorded the lowest levels of business social media engagement, at 41.5 per cent, 46.0 per cent, and 47.3 per cent respectively.

Digital modernisation

The figures reflected continued digital modernisation in the business sector as companies across Europe maintained a focus on online connectivity.
