Cyprus reports 51% uptake of e-business applications in 2025, near EU average, Eurostat says

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus recorded a 51% uptake of specialised e-business applications in 2025, placing it close to the European Union average, according to a Eurostat report. Across the EU, 53% of enterprises used specialised e-business software.

Cyprus near EU average as adoption varies across member states

Eurostat said specialised e-business software includes enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management and business intelligence tools. The figures indicate Cyprus’ alignment with broader European digitalisation trends, though adoption remains below that of leading countries.

Among EU member states, the highest adoption rates were recorded in Denmark and Finland at 73%, followed by Belgium and the Netherlands at 70%, and Spain at 66%. The lowest levels were seen in Bulgaria at 31%, Romania at 32% and Slovakia at 34%, highlighting a wide digital divide across the bloc.

Company size linked to major differences in software use

The data showed significant disparities based on company size, with large enterprises far more likely to use advanced business software than small firms. The gap between small and large enterprises reached close to or above 50 percentage points in several categories.

For enterprise resource planning systems, the most widely used type of software, adoption ranged from 41% among small enterprises to 89% among large enterprises, a 48 percentage point gap. In business intelligence tools, usage ranged from 11% in small firms to 69% in large companies, a 58 percentage point difference. Customer relationship management systems were used by 25% of small enterprises and 65% of large enterprises, a 41 percentage point gap.
