In a statement on Tuesday, the Deputy Ministry of Shipping said it has been closely monitoring developments in the region “from the very beginning” and remains in contact with the management companies of Cyprus-flagged ships operating in the area.

The ministry also said “most of the vessels are permanently deployed in the region, primarily providing specialised maritime support services”.

Cyprus promotes role as gateway for Indian investment

Cyprus presented itself as a strategic European gateway for Indian capital at the India–Cyprus Business and Investment Summit 2026 in Nicosia, with business and diplomatic leaders citing a partnership gaining depth amid shifting geopolitical and trade conditions.

At the summit organised by the High Commission of India in Cyprus, Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve) president Stavros Stavrou told Indian investors: “If you are planning your European strategy today, Cyprus should not be an afterthought, but the starting point.”

Stavrou described India as a “defining force of the 21st century”, reshaping technology, supply chains and global capital flows. He said that in a more complex international environment, “stability has become a competitive advantage”, and argued this is where Cyprus positions itself.
