Cyprus says new aid ship carrying 900 tonnes has sailed to Gaza via Amalthea corridor

Nicosia, Cyprus. Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos said a ship carrying around 900 tonnes of humanitarian aid has sailed from Cyprus to Gaza under the Amalthea aid corridor. He said the aid is in the process of being delivered to Gaza’s civilian population.

Details of the shipment

Kombos said the shipment includes medical equipment, including neonatal incubators, hygiene items, shelter equipment and food shelters. He said the ship set sail on March 17 and arrived two days later.

Coordination with UN agencies and partner governments

He said the shipment was carried out in coordination with the United Nations Office for Project Services (Unops), with assistance from the UN Development Programme, the World Health Organisation, and the governments of France and the United Arab Emirates.

Cyprus’ role in the aid corridor

Kombos said the Republic of Cyprus will continue to function as a pillar of stability in the region, contributing through actions and initiatives to regional peace and security.

Previous aid volumes

The announcement is the first publicly reported shipment since Kombos said in January that more than 30,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Gaza from Cyprus since the Amalthea corridor was created in 2024.
