Cyprus to set up national advisory committee on oral hygiene, health minister says

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus will set up a national advisory committee on oral hygiene as part of the health ministry’s strategy to promote health, prevent illness, and bridge gaps in access to quality services, Health Minister Neophytos Charalambides said on Friday.

World oral hygiene day message

Speaking at a press conference to mark world oral hygiene day, Charalambides said this year’s slogan was “oral hygiene a priority for all ages” and aimed at raising awareness that oral hygiene is linked to general health and affects physical, mental and social wellbeing.

School programmes and mobile dental units

He said programmes to promote oral hygiene and dental care are being implemented through mobile dental units in primary schools in cooperation with the education ministry.

Children recognised at press conference

Charalambides congratulated children from the Rizokarpaso and Elenion primary schools who attended the press conference for taking part in an art competition and a pilot programme to promote brushing their teeth.
