Nicosia, Cyprus. Young people in Cyprus recorded high use of generative artificial intelligence tools in 2025, with Eurostat data showing adoption well above the European Union average.
Cyprus compared with the EU average
Eurostat data show 76.5 per cent of people aged 16 to 24 in Cyprus used generative AI tools during 2025. Across the EU, 63.8 per cent of people aged 16 to 24 used generative AI tools in 2025.
Young users outpace the general population
Among the general population aged 16 to 74, 32.7 per cent reported using generative AI tools in 2025, nearly half the level recorded among those aged 16 to 24. The figures indicate young people are leading the introduction of generative AI across different areas of life.
Private and education use
Use of generative AI for private purposes was 44.2 per cent among young people, compared with 25.1 per cent in the general population. For formal education, 39.3 per cent of young people reported using generative AI tools, compared with 9.4 per cent among those aged 16 to 74.
Professional use and labour market participation
Professional use of generative AI was similar between age groups, at 15.8 per cent among young people and 15.1 per cent among those aged 16 to 74. Eurostat attributed the narrow gap in professional use to the fact that many people aged 16 to 24 have not yet entered the labour market.
Highest EU share
Among EU member states, the highest share of young people using generative AI tools was recorded in Greece, at 83.5 per cent.
