Nicosia, Cyprus. Telecommunications provider Cyta on Friday announced the appointment of George Metzakis as the organisation’s new chief executive officer, with immediate effect. Cyta said Metzakis officially assumed the role on May 8, 2026.

Cyta said the appointment marks a new phase for its leadership team as it continues implementing its business strategy focused on growth, digital transformation and service development.

According to the announcement, Metzakis joined Cyta in 2023 as chief commercial officer. Since September 2025, he had been serving as co-acting deputy CEO, helping to ensure the organisation’s operational continuity.

Cyta said Metzakis brings experience in the telecommunications sector in Cyprus and abroad, and has held leadership positions in marketing, sales, revenue growth and customer experience management. The organisation said he has implemented initiatives linking strategy with measurable results and strengthened competitiveness in demanding market environments.
Commercial strategy and service performance
During his time at Cyta, Metzakis was responsible for the organisation’s overall commercial strategy across all market segments. Cyta said he contributed to strengthening performance in mobile and broadband services through targeted customer-focused approaches and a unified commercial direction, promoted digital-oriented projects aimed at enhancing customer experience, and strengthened the organisation’s relationship with the public.
