Disy edges ahead of Akel in IMR poll ahead of Cyprus parliamentary elections

Nicosia, Cyprus. Disy has opened a narrow lead over Akel in a new opinion poll conducted ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary elections. The survey shows both parties competing to be the largest in the next parliament.

Poll results and party standings

The poll was conducted by IMR for the news website Reporter.

Disy is placed first on 20.9 per cent, 1.9 percentage points ahead of Akel on 19 per cent, after Disy won the most seats at the last three parliamentary elections.

Elam remains in third place on 12.5 per cent, its lowest forecast share in a poll since 2024. Former auditor-general Odysseas Michaelides’ Alma is forecast to finish fourth with 9.6 per cent.

Diko is placed fifth on 7.6 per cent, followed by social media influencer Fidias Panayiotou’s Direct Democracy Cyprus on 6.7 per cent. Volt is the seventh and final party forecast to secure enough support to enter parliament, on exactly 4 per cent.

Diko outlook and government-supporting parties

Diko, which has finished third in every parliamentary election since coming second in 1985 and has not polled outside the top three since its founding in 1976, is forecast to be on course for its worst nationwide electoral result.

Despite this, Diko remains the most well-supported among the parties that support the government, as Edek and Dipa are forecast to lose all their parliamentary seats.

Edek is forecast to win 2.2 per cent and finish eighth, while Dipa is forecast to win 1.2 per cent and finish 11th, behind the Ecologists’ Movement on 2.1 per cent and the Hunters’ Movement on 1.2 per cent.

The smallest party listed in the poll is Sikou Pano!—Cypriot Greek for “Get Up!”—forecast to win exactly 1 per cent.
