Nicosia, Cyprus. Edek leader Nikos Anastasiou on Wednesday presented his party’s candidates in the Nicosia district, praising the diversity of the party’s ballot.
Diversity and candidate profile
Anastasiou said 25 per cent of Edek’s candidates are women and 69 per cent are young people. He described Edek as both a historical party and one with a future presence.
Election aims
He said the party is campaigning to secure a strong presence in parliament and to continue supporting the public.
Leader not standing and polling concerns
Anastasiou is not running for election despite being the party’s leader. Polling suggests the party could be heading for the worst result in its 56-year history and could lose all its seats in the House.
What do you think Edek’s candidate diversity could mean for its chances in the upcoming election?
