Nicosia, Cyprus. Elam leader Christos Christou on Wednesday filed his candidacy at the top of his party’s ballot in the Nicosia district. Polls indicate the party is on course for a historic electoral high and the third-largest number of seats in the new parliament.

Christou said the party is entering the final stretch of the campaign and is running with its own combinations in each district. He said Elam proposes personnel who unite.
Candidate list composition
He said the party’s list includes businessmen, farmers, women and men, whom he described as ready to contribute to a fight for change.
Policy priorities
Christou called on the public to support those with the will to act, citing tackling illegal immigration, suppressing corruption, supporting pensioners and vulnerable groups, pursuing a comprehensive refugee policy, and preserving national identity.
Positions and readiness
He said the party is presenting clear positions and experience, and is willing to confront those he said are holding the country back. Christou said Elam is ready to take on more responsibilities.
