Ankara, Turkey. President Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey aims to sign a comprehensive energy cooperation agreement with Iraq as soon as possible following talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi. Erdogan said Iraq’s premier had offered to provide Ankara with 1 million barrels of oil.
Energy cooperation
Speaking at a joint news conference after an agreement-signing ceremony, Erdogan said Turkey and Iraq were seeking broader energy cooperation.
A deal to keep the Kirkuk-Ceyhan crude oil pipeline open for another year was expected at the ceremony.

Erdogan said Turkey’s state-owned oil and gas company, TPAO, could operate in Kirkuk’s oil field used by BP.
