Nicosia, Cyprus. Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman said he will share his community’s will for a solution to the Cyprus problem during a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on February 11. He said the meeting would provide an opportunity to discuss developments in the Cyprus issue face to face.
Meeting with UN Secretary-General
In a Facebook post on Sunday ahead of the meeting, Erhurman said he would share with Guterres the will of the Turkish Cypriot people for a solution, their views on steps needed to create a climate for a settlement, and their thoughts on the methodology required to complete the process successfully.
Emphasis on diplomacy and dialogue
Erhurman said efforts would move forward through diplomacy and dialogue rather than what he described as manipulative attempts and accusations in the media. He said the approach would be based on the community’s will for a solution and pursued with patience, composure, determination and seriousness.
What do you think are the key steps needed to create a climate for a settlement in the Cyprus problem?
