Nicosia, Cyprus. Eurobank said it renewed its cooperation agreement with the non-profit organisation Cyprus Seeds for a seventh consecutive year in January 2026. The bank said the move reaffirms its long-term commitment to innovation, scientific excellence and entrepreneurship in Cyprus.
Partnership focus
The partnership aims to support the commercialisation of innovative scientific research produced by universities, research institutes and Centres of Excellence across Cyprus.
Support offered to research teams
Cyprus Seeds provides research teams with grants of up to €50,000, guidance from experienced international mentors, business training and networking opportunities with investors abroad.
Programme participation and results
Since its launch, the 18-month support programme has attracted applications from 23 universities, research centres and Centres of Excellence in Cyprus, and has supported 24 research teams to date.
Institutions and Centres of Excellence involved
Organisations that have received support include the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus University of Technology, the Cyprus Institute, the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, the University of Nicosia and the Frederick Research Center. Support has also been extended to the Centres of Excellence CYENS, EMME-CARE, Eratosthenes and KIOS.
Startups, licensing and funding
Cyprus Seeds has contributed to the creation of six startup companies and one licensing agreement, and has strengthened the ability of teams to secure competitive funding from research and innovation programmes.
Links to the diaspora
The organisation acts as a bridge connecting Cyprus with the Greek and Cypriot diaspora, which supports Cyprus Seeds through funding and international connections.
International positioning
Cyprus Seeds said its work and strategic partnerships have established it as a trusted partner in the international innovation ecosystem.
