Nicosia, Cyprus. The European Commission disbursed €21.2 million in grants to Cyprus as the fifth payment under the Recovery and Resilience Facility, the central mechanism of NextGenerationEU. The payment follows a partially approved request, with remaining funds pending completion of one milestone.
Fifth payment under EU recovery programme
The Commission said the funding supports reforms and investments in public administration, justice, transport, tourism, education, healthcare, and energy-efficient renovations.
Payment request and assessment
Cyprus submitted its fifth payment request, totalling €70.5 million, on August 1, 2025. The request covered 19 milestones and targets linked to eight reforms and 11 investments.
The Commission partially approved the request on December 19, 2025, noting that one milestone related to green taxation reform remains outstanding. The remaining funds will be released once this milestone has been met.
