Larnaca, Cyprus. Scammers have created a fake Facebook profile impersonating Larnaca mayor Andreas Vyras and are attempting to extort money and personal details from people.
Municipality warning
The municipality urged the public on Monday to be cautious, not to reply to messages or requests from the fake profile, and not to send personal or bank account details.
Steps advised
The municipality called on recipients of such messages to immediately block the fake profile and report it.
Actions underway
The Larnaca municipality said it had initiated actions to address the issue.
