Famagusta, Cyprus. The Famagusta district promoted its year-round tourism offer at exhibitions in Belgrade, Berlin and Poland, according to the Famagusta regional tourism board (Etap). It also said it sought to present what officials described as the real picture in Cyprus following the latest developments in the Middle East.
Participation in international tourism events
Etap said it maintained a strong presence in international tourism markets through participation in key tourism exhibitions in Serbia and Germany, as well as in the roadshow held in Poland by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
Meetings with tour operators and sector bodies
Etap representatives held contacts with hundreds of tour operators, tourism bodies and potential visitors from Serbia, Germany and Poland during exhibitions and accompanying business meetings, the board said. It added that it also engaged with stakeholders from other markets including the United Kingdom, Austria and Switzerland.
Outward-looking strategy and established cooperation
The board said the meetings provided an opportunity to strengthen the Famagusta district’s outward-looking strategy while reinforcing established cooperation with tourism professionals and sector bodies.
Emphasis on year-round tourism and the free Famagusta area
Etap said the contacts allowed representatives to convey what it described as the real situation in Cyprus during a critical period, while promoting the district as an attractive destination for all-year tourism rather than only the summer season. It added that emphasis was placed on opportunities across the whole free Famagusta area for authentic experiences, quality services and a broad range of year-round activities.
Next steps in Cyprus and digital promotion
Etap said contacts with foreign organisations, tourism professionals and partners from target markets will continue through meetings to be held in Cyprus. It also said it is moving forward with targeted initiatives in online tools and digital promotion to strengthen the district’s presence in international markets.
