Ankara, Turkey. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Iran’s strategy of attacking Gulf states in retaliation for U.S. and Israeli attacks was “incredibly wrong” and increased instability in the region.
Comments on Iran’s strikes
Speaking to state broadcaster TRT Haber on Tuesday, Fidan said Iran’s “indiscriminate bombing” was “an incredibly wrong strategy,” adding that Tehran was pursuing an approach of “if I drown, I’ll drown the region as well.”
Warning of escalation risk
Fidan said countries attacked by Iran may not be able to remain silent if the strikes continued, and said the risk of the conflict widening further was worrying.
Possible opening for ending the war
Fidan also said the formation of a new Iranian leadership could provide a window of opportunity to end the war.
