Fifa imposes transfer ban on Anorthosis Famagusta FC after former player’s successful claim

Nicosia, Cyprus. Fifa has enforced a transfer ban on Anorthosis Famagusta FC following a successful claim by former player Waris Majeed over significant unpaid remuneration.

Fifa ruling and transfer ban

The disciplinary action follows legal proceedings brought by Majeed regarding unpaid remuneration. The ruling by Fifa validated the player’s claims and highlighted the governing body’s stance on clubs meeting contractual obligations to players.

The transfer ban will remain in effect until the outstanding debts owed to Majeed are fully settled in accordance with the Fifa decision.

Player representation and response

Majeed, represented by his agent Nana Sechere, pursued the case through the appropriate legal channels after the club repeatedly failed to honour its contractual financial obligations during his tenure.

“We are pleased with the outcome of this case and Fifa’s decisive action,” Sechere said. “Players dedicate their careers to their clubs, and it is fundamental that their contractual rights are respected. This ruling sends a clear message that the non-payment of salaries will not be tolerated.”

Majeed’s next steps

Majeed remains focused on his career and said he is grateful for the support he has received throughout the process.
