Ayios Theodoros, Cyprus. A fire broke out shortly after midnight on the wooden roof of a house in Ayios Theodoros, the fire service said on Monday. The blaze damaged part of the roof before being brought under control within the hour.
Emergency response
Four fire engines from the Larnaca district responded after a call reporting the fire was received at 00:03. The fire was brought under control by 00:52.
Damage and safety
Part of the wooden roof was damaged by flames and heat. Authorities said the residents noticed the fire in time and exited safely without injury.
Cause
The fire brigade said the fire was caused by defective construction of the fireplace chimney.
