Protaras, Cyprus. A fire damaged two apartments in a residential building in Protaras on Wednesday, while firefighters safely removed a resident affected by smoke from a nearby apartment.
Firefighting operation
The Famagusta fire brigade responded with three fire engines after receiving a report of a fire in an apartment, fire brigade spokesman Andreas Kettis said.
Firefighters found that the blaze had spread to two apartments, one on the ground floor and another on the first floor.
Resident evacuated
During the operation, firefighters evacuated a person with mobility difficulties from an apartment opposite the affected units after smoke entered the property.
The cause of the fire has not been reported, and authorities are expected to provide further details.
