Five arrested in Paphos after police find drugs and cash in car search

Paphos, Cyprus. Police arrested five people in Paphos on Saturday evening after stopping and searching the car they were travelling in and finding suspected drugs and other items. All five remain in custody as the investigation continues.


Traffic stop and attempted escape

The car was driven by a 54-year-old man and carried four passengers: a 27-year-old man, a 35-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man, and a 16-year-old woman. Police said the 27-year-old attempted to flee on foot when the car was pulled over but was stopped after officers gave chase.

Items seized

Police said the 27-year-old was found with about 83 grams of cocaine, €3,050 in cash and £70 sterling. Officers later said they found and seized an additional four grams of cocaine, 19 grams of magic mushrooms, 183 grams of cannabis, half a gram of methamphetamine, precision scales, and “various other items” in the car.

Custody and investigation

Police said all five individuals remain in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
