Athens, Greece. Five people were wounded in two separate shooting attacks in Athens, with an elderly suspect still at large, police and local media reported on Tuesday.

Attack at EFKA office

Police said the suspect, an 89-year-old man, opened fire with a shotgun at a branch of Greece’s EFKA social security agency, wounding an employee in the leg.

Shooting at court building

Police and court officials said the gunman then travelled by taxi to a court building, where he fired several shots inside and lightly wounded four female court clerks.

Suspect’s escape and items left behind

Media reported that the suspect left the shotgun at the court building along with letters addressed to newspapers, and fled on foot.

Officials’ statements and investigation

“Four women working at the small claims court were slightly injured,” Stratis Dounias, head of the judiciary employees’ union in Athens, told public broadcaster ERT.
Police have not commented on a possible motive.

Suspect identified by local media

Greek media identified the suspect as a garbage collector from the Athens area.
