Former British lawmaker Crispin Blunt charged with drugs offences

London, United Kingdom. Former British lawmaker Crispin Blunt has been charged with drugs offences, prosecutors said in a statement on Wednesday. He is due to appear in court on March 25.

Charges announced by prosecutors

The Crown Prosecution Service said it had decided to charge Blunt, 65, with four drugs offences: one count of possessing a controlled drug of Class A and three counts of possessing a controlled drug of Class B, according to Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division.

Police visit and background

Police said the charges followed a visit by officers to Blunt’s home in October 2023 in relation to a separate matter.

Blunt was a member of parliament for the Conservative Party for more than 25 years before standing down at the July 2024 election.
