Nicosia, Cyprus. Police arrested four people in Nicosia in connection with a series of burglary and theft cases following a coordinated operation by the criminal investigation department. The arrests relate to offences committed in recent days in the Nicosia district.
Suspects and investigation
Police said the suspects are three men aged 33, 30 and 26, and a 33-year-old woman. The arrests form part of an investigation into a number of offences in the Nicosia district.
First arrest and search
Officers located and stopped a 33-year-old man shortly before noon while he was driving around. Police said he was wanted under a court warrant in connection with six cases involving building burglary, theft, unlawful entry, malicious damage to property and conspiracy to commit a felony, allegedly carried out between March 9 and 28 at construction sites.
He was arrested, and a subsequent search at his residence led to the arrest of a 33-year-old woman who was also wanted in connection with the same cases.
Police said a large number of items were found at the suspect’s home and in his vehicle, including electrical and professional tools, scales and cables, believed to be stolen property.
During questioning, the 33-year-old reportedly admitted to the six cases under investigation, as well as two additional similar offences.
Later arrests following vehicle stop
Police said that later the same day, at around 8.30pm, officers located a 30-year-old man in another area of Nicosia who was also wanted under a court warrant in connection with the cases.
He was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old man, who allegedly attempted to flee by speeding away. Police pursued and stopped the vehicle, arresting both the driver and the passenger.
