Nicosia, Cyprus. France will send anti-missile and anti-drone systems, as well as a frigate, to Cyprus to bolster the Republic’s defence capabilities, the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) reported on Tuesday.
Deployments to Cyprus
According to CNA, France will soon deploy a second frigate to Cyprus, in addition to the confirmed defence systems and the first frigate that will be sent.
Contacts between leaders
President Nikos Christodoulides was informed of France’s decision to implement support measures in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
CNA said the move followed two phone calls with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday, during which Christodoulides conveyed a related request.
