Friends of the Earth Cyprus to host Climate Justice Week with free public events

Nicosia, Cyprus. Friends of the Earth Cyprus will host Climate Justice Week from Wednesday to Monday, offering free workshops, discussions, forums and cultural events aimed at promoting environmental democracy and social participation. Organisers said prior registration is required for all events.

Programme and focus

Friends of the Earth Cyprus said the initiative comes at a time when democracy, environmental protection and rights are facing increasing challenges. The organisation said climate justice goes beyond environmental issues and includes those most affected by the climate crisis, their representation in decision-making and the distribution of resources.

The programme will feature workshops on environmental democracy, policy discussions, climate justice forums, cycling events and documentary screenings.

Participation and objectives

Organisers said they aim to bring together civil society groups, young people, academics, experts, members of the public and local authorities to exchange ideas and develop proposals on environmental democracy, energy justice and mobility justice.

Friends of the Earth Cyprus said the activities form part of wider efforts to increase public involvement in environmental decision-making and encourage dialogue on sustainable development.

Support and registration

Climate Justice Week is being organised through EU-funded projects, with support from international and local partners and backing from the Plato programme to strengthen civil society and democratic participation in Cyprus.

The full programme and registration details are available through Friends of the Earth Cyprus.
